講座概要

日本的なマンガのキャラクターの描き方が基礎から学べる、初心者から上級者までを対象とした、1日完結のワークショップです。まず、多種多様なマンガ用ペン、インク、スクリーン・トーン、プロが使っているコンピュータソフトなどの専門道具について紹介し、続いてキャラクター・デザインの流れを説明します。そして、キャラクターの描き方を、身体のパーツごとに細かく聴講して手本を見た後、実際にペンと紙を使って表情豊かなキャラクターを描きます。描いた作品は、添削やアドバイスを受けます。最後は、全員でアイデアを出し合い、自分たちが描いたすべてのキャラクターが登場する簡単なストーリーを創作します。このワークショップは、東京に本社があり「Manga University」シリーズのハウツー本を出版しているクリエイティブエージェンシー、Japanime Co． Ltd．の代表であるグレン・カーディーが担当します。

	講師名	Glenn．Kardy

	プロフィール	Glenn Kardy， 42， is president and CEO of Japanime Co． Ltd．， a Tokyo－based publishing company and creative agency known for its manga－themed educational materials， including the Kanji de Manga and How to Draw Manga series of books． A graduate of the journalism department at California State University， Sacramento， Glenn spent a decade as a new reporter and editor in his native Northern California before taking a job in the mid－1990s with the English－language division of The Yomiuri Shimbun， Japan’s most widely read daily newspaper． During a three－year stint at Yomiuri headquarters in Tokyo， Glenn regularly wrote and edited stories about pop－culture trends originating in Japan， including the anime－and－manga boom． Glenn left the Yomiuri in 1998 to launch Japanime and its Manga University publishing imprint． He is actively involved in all facets of Japanime’s business activities， from design and editing to production and promotion． Glenn lives in Kawaguchi， Saitama Prefecture， with his wife， their daughter and a collection of Oakland A’s bobblehead dolls．
